In today’s rolling mills, we strive to realize the longevity of ROLLS. The HSS ROLLS are more suitable in place of other conventional rolls, as HSS rolls have higher strength in regards to the ratio of length and diameter. However, if cooling is used properly, it surpasses other rolls in longevity. The important aspect of operating the rolls, is to maintain the roll temperature in between 400 -500 degrees Celsius. This can be done by using cool water judiciously to avoid loss of hardness due to tempering action. The rate of cooling should be monitored in order to prolong life of HSS Rolls.
