Multi-stand Block Mills for Rolling Mill Industry

With the inception of Multi-stand Block Mills the mill designers and steel producers initially used the concept to produce wire rods/rounds. Rod Mills are similar to bar mills at the front end, but the finishing end is different. Rods have a smaller section (5.5 to 15 millimeters in diameter) and are always coiled, while bars are normally shipped in cut length. The final rolling in rod mills often takes place in a close-coupled set of 10 pairs of small rolls (200 and 150 millimeters in diameter); these are all installed in a block, with their axis at a 45dg angle and arranged in an alternating fashion like the vertical and horizontal rolls in a continuous bar mill. Exit speed of small-diameter roads can go up 100 meters per second. The rod is immediately coiled by quickly rotating laying heads and cooled before bundling.

With the passage of time block mills started becoming an integral part of bar mills. They had the advantage of reaching higher speed and were capable to produce 8mm TMT bars at above 35m/s.

CASE is supplying multi-stand block mills (2/4/6/8/10 stands) as per the mill demands and also provides matching suitable equipment in the mill down stream (high speed shear, tail breaker, rotary channel, cooling bed etc.) for bar mills and (pinch rolls, laying head etc.) for wire rod mills.

CASE Block Mills are well known in the rolling mill industry for their unbeatable design, equipment durability, state of the art technology, world class performance and relentless service to its clientele.
